Generator maintenance for an engineering business

The customer designs, manufactures and installs handling systems for onshore and offshore applications. Its work brings together mechanical, electrical and control-system engineering.

FW Power supports the business with generator maintenance, providing a single point of contact for servicing and remedial requirements. This project brought those two aspects of our service together at the customer’s Telford site.

Major generator service and component replacement

Gavin and Matt’s work covered the major service and the remedial requirements for the generator. Key items in the service scope were:

  • Crankcase breather / separator: replacement as part of the generator maintenance work.
  • Two air filters: replacement of both specified filters.
  • Remedial works: hands-on mechanical work on the existing engine assembly alongside the major service.

Combining the major service with the identified remedial work allowed both the scheduled maintenance and the additional mechanical requirements to be addressed within the same project.

The project photographs capture the practical work behind generator maintenance: gaining access to the engine, working on the exposed upper engine assembly and examining removed components. Other images show components and fasteners arranged in trays alongside the generator during the works.

The customer’s choice for ongoing generator maintenance

This Telford project reflects the support FW Power provides as the customer’s chosen generator maintenance company: major servicing, replacement components and practical remedial work through one service provider.

For engineering businesses and other commercial sites, our team can discuss a maintenance scope around the existing generator, its operating duty and the work required. From planned servicing to specific repair requirements, we help customers look after the equipment they already have.
